What is remote usability testing?
Remote usability testing is a research method for collecting feedback on the user experience of websites, apps, or any digital product.
In other words, it’s a way to put your digital designs in front of real people and see what they think. By uncovering what users like and dislike, and where they get lost, stuck, or confused, you can optimize your designs and fix problem spots, leading to happier users and better conversion and retention rates.
Traditionally, usability testing was done on-site, in research labs. Companies would have to bring their test participants into the lab and then sit with them through the test, providing instructions, observing their behavior, and listening to their feedback.
Remote usability testing tools like Trymata, however, cut out many of these costly and labor-intensive steps, allowing you to quickly launch a test out to participants anywhere in the world. From the comfort of their own homes and offices, those participants can try out your website or app, recording their experience (and feedback) with remote testing software like ours.
Being able to run user tests remotely makes it much more feasible for many companies (especially those without UX experts, specialized researchers, and on-site labs) to do.
